About me

Hi,  my name is  Diane Jennings

i was born,  and still reside,
in the beautiful town of  Ludlow  in  Shropshire  (U.K.)

I am a self-taught artist and i tend to paint in many different styles.
A lot of my work is traditional yet contemporary,  colourful,  yet calm,  abstract  and  representational,  i don't always stick to the rules.

A lot of my paintings have a mystical feel about them.
I am now working on a much bigger canvas than i used to and the pictures take on a more dramatic look when they are larger .
I find it so exciting to see a blank canvas becoming a work of art before my eyes!

I work in several different mediums but tend to work mainly with oil paint, although i also do some encaustic work with melted wax which is a lovely medium to work with, much more unpredictable than oil paints!

I started to teach other people to paint in my 'Painting My Way' classes,  here in Ludlow,  four years ago after my husband, Bill, had a heart attack and lost his HGV driving licence.

People had always been amazed by how quickly i could paint and were always asking me to show them how to do it.
'Painting My Way' was born and since then countless people have been to my classes and in less than four hours, have with my instruction, taken away the most beautiful painting which none of their family have believed they have done!

I have had children as young as seven years and adults in their eighties. Everyone finds the step-by-step instruction easy to follow.
I only take up to seven people in a class,  and don't normally intend to exceed that,  so everyone gets plenty of attention.

Ludlow, Shropshire The classes are real fun and the results are amazing. I encourage people to have their own input as well as showing them what to paint, so each picture is very individual, rather than a carbon copy of mine, so the results are all different which is lovely.
The sense of achievement that people get from producing beautiful paintings the first time they have painted is priceless to me.
No previous experience is necessary, everything is supplied by me, canvas, paint, brushes and also the tea, coffee and biscuits!!
All you have to do is turn up in some old clothes and wait for the fun to begin!

I also teach people to paint with wax in my classes called 'The Encaustic Experience'.
People can paint  20  x  postcard size pictures and  2  x  A4  size.

I have paintings in private collections all over the world - USA, France, Germany, Belgium and many in this country (U.K).
I love doing commissions and if you see one of my paintings that does not quite go with your colour scheme,  i will be happy to reproduce it in the colours of your choice.
